Ürgüp has traditionally been the tourism center of Central Anatolia's Cappadocia regio.

It used to be that Ürgüp was for luxurious visitors and tour groups, and Göreme for backpackers, but that has changed. There are now excellent boutique hotels and inns in both towns, although Ürgüp does have many more of these.

The center of Ürgüp  boasts many fine old houses of carved Cappadocian stone. The soft volcanic tufa lends itself to carving for decoration and to expansion: if the house needs a new room, the residents merely hollow one out of the hillside into which the house is built.

Like most Cappadocian towns, Ürgüp clings to the walls of a valley and tumbles down along the valley floor for some distance.

The town has many fine inns with cave rooms such as the Esbelli Evi, as well as cheaper pensions. On the outskirts of the town toward Kayseri are large modern hotels designed for tour groups.

The center of Ürgüp has shops, a historic hamam, and the Temenni Hill, a high rock ledge looming above the very center of town, with a saint's tomb at its edge. Temenni was a favorite place to go for the fine view, and to watch the sunset, but in spring 2007 a section of the rock collapsed on several buildings in the town, so the viewing terrace is being reconstructed.:(

 On the other side, Esma and Yunus grown up.Esma married a man who didn’t resemble neither her father nor her brother.He was very calm and patient.Yunus became a musician and he was very successful.Before İskender came out of prison, Yunus visited him and said a shocking thing!!?

      “İskender,you will be free soon but i won’t let you give harm my mother again..”İskender was confused.”Our mother is dead.” “No, brother you didn’t kill our mother.She was alive.Esma and i didn’t tell you because we were scared if so you try to kill her again.You killed our mothers twins aunt Cemile.”

       İskender was shocked.He had been thinking his mother and his regrets but now, he knew she was alive.He had a hope now to beg her for forgive him.He wrote a lot of letters for her.When he come out he would give by his hand and he would kiss her hand.He had a chance for these…This was unbelievable..

        Esma went to the prison to take him on the day he would come out.They came to the house.İskender asked her mother he didn’t know she was’t alive anymore.Esma said him she was dead.İskender was puzzled.”But Yunus came to the prison and he said to me our mother wasn’t dead..” “Yes”said esma.”You didn’t kill her but she died a natural death one year ago.She was ill.”

     İskender collapsed.He tought that he would have a chance to be forgiven….

İSKENDER

İSKENDER ELİF ŞAFAK

       One of the most liked novel ,recently, is İskender of Elif Şafak.This book is narrating an unfortunate family.When you start to read it you  believe that you know all story but when you learn the truth you appreciate the writers imagination.

       To sum up, i will summarize it for you J

       I start with definitions of Toprak familys each member.Our heroes are Pembe, Cemile, Adem, İskender, Esma,Yunus…Cemile and Pembe are twins and Pembe and Adem are married.İskender, Esma and Yunus are their children.At the beginning of the story, Adem went to village which in  Pembe and Cemile live.He saw Cemile and he fell in love with her but her father didn’t consent to marry them.Cemile was kidnapped before and her father didn’t approve to be a wife for him.You know Turkish traditions…He said Adem can marry with Pembe because of they are exactly alike so this means if you like Cemile you can like Pembe..However, he didn’t know unlike their appearances their personalities are complete opposite.Adem married with Pembe but he didn’t never love her although they had three children.

      The most of the story is passing in Londra.On the first page, you see someone was dead and she was killed by her own son.He had been in prison for years but he come out soon.This man is İskender.Let’s see what happened the past..

     Adem and Pembe migrated into the Londra owing to economic reasons and these three children were born there.They feel themselves strangers in Londra like all immigrants.Furthermore,Adem got out of home so he abandoned his wife and his childrens.İskender was fifteen years that time and he is a boy.This means he was responsible for needs of house and his mother ,his sister and his brother.He was a  really rebellious young and he wasn’t forgiving his fathers leaving home for a bitch.

    After adem had  left home, Pembe had to work much because of expenses.One day,when she was coming back home, she met a man who was defence her rights againts a racist boy.Turkish people were sidelined in 70s. İn Londra and the other European cities.Anyway, this man gave the racialist boy a good piece of advice.This event provided to meet Elias and Pembe.Elias fell in love with Pembe.Pembe  also liked this man and they were starting to date but Pembe felt always herself guilty  because she was  a marrried woman even if her husband wasn’t at home or he abandoned them.Besides, she was worried about so that not to be heard by İskender.She knew her sons behaviours  and  what he would do if he knew this relationship.Pembe and Elias could only go to the  cinema because both Pembe like the cinema very much and its more difficult to be seen  them by other people.Nevertheless,Tarık ,childrens uncle, saw them and he told İskender as if he had witnessed  some terrible events.After that day, İskender started to follow his mother and he didn’t let to go to her work.Pembe accepted hopelessly.

HERO AND LEANDROS

      There are two ancient cities ,facing one another, Sestos and Abydos in Çanakkale.Anadiomene  ,the goddess of pure love, and her daughter Hero live in Sestos.Leandros  who is famous for his courage,strongness and mercy lives in Abydos.Hero and Leandros meet at the festival of Adonis( hello spring) and fall in love with at the first glance.Leandros is fascinated with her beauty.But they can’t marry.There are two possibilities.She may be  a nun or her family don’t want to their marriage.So  they decide to come together  in secret.Leandros swims from Abydos to Sestos every evening before sunset to reach her.Hero fires a torch everynight so that he finds his way.This method provide them to see each other.

     One night, Leandros starts to swim as always but the weather is so bad that they can’t reach the shore.Furthermore,Hero can’t fire the torch because of the rain.Unfortunately, Laendros dies by hitting rockies in the sea.Hero waits her lover all night.When the sun rises,she sees his dead body on the shore and she can’t bear his misery and she throw herself into the water from the cliff.They dies but their love lives forever…

EXERCİSE 1.

   Our hunting dog likes to pursue for the purpose of catching and killing an animal.When someone opens the door she knock over all the barrels in the yard and she runs rapidly.She runs for her liberty to greensward with hilarity.Her nose looks for an odour of cats, rabbits or other animals that humanbeings can’t perceive.She smells and twisted her tail swiftly.She changes her direction of her tail twisting.Maybe these actions make her gains to speed.

EXERCİSE 2.

    The Government Printing Office in Washington D.C keeps very important informantions that most of the people don’t know.It is the official publishing house for the federal government.It puts in the circulation a lot of books and small books consisting of a few paper about a discussion or something like these.There is a wide variety area of subjects in these books such as the dangers of X-rays from home TV set sor the identification of mushrooms.Superindented of Documents provide approximately 27.000 puplications many of which are cheap and some of which are free.

EXERCİSE 3.

       The first rich in America is John Jacob Astor who was a German immigrant.Actually he was born in low condition and he was deprived of proper education.He never couldn’t speak English as a native speaker.He started with trading Indian furs and then his money was growing ang growing.All problem of him was his Accent because his Accent make people remember to the Hamburg Street-boy which was the end of his career.

VİDEO REFLECTİON

1. There are a lof benefits of studying in America

-The chinese girl thinks that she needs more scores  to study in China so Ohio Northern  University provides this to her and it provides opportunity for pratice.

-The Netherland girl says that American education  system  different  than  European  education  system  and  the biggest difference American education system based on creativity and team work which she most like thing about it.

-The Japanese  boy says that he studied in England and Canada for highschool.So he is used to living a foreign country.This is a kind of habituation for him.

2. In their own country, once you choose a major  to study you can’t change it after and education system so straightaway and strict it don’t let to flexibility.They don’t like these.

  In ONU, they have small classes which is getting easier to communicate with each other.This is supportive.And there is really flexible system.They like these.

3.They are paying 29-34 thousand dolar for year which includes meal pan, boarding and room but it changes according to their needs.

4. It’s quite normal that living some difficulties to get used an another country.They experince a lot of weird things according to them.One of them is burping someone around you an the other one is communicating directly.

5.They lived culture shock which is quite normal,too.But one of them thinks that culture shock is useful and inescapable.Everyone experience this that is very naturel.Because everyting is different than your lifesytle.

      According to me, studying in America would be priceless experience.Because there are a lot of ethnic groups in America and this provide to see many culture at the same time.If i find a way to America or another foreign country i want go.Knowing new people and places change the individual’s vision.So it would be awesome  studying in America.

    Surely, it will be hard at first times.Because you don’t know how you act when you are together with people and you will be surprise their foods, clothes, behaviours  etc.But after getting used i’m sure that everything will be okeyJ
